Keep ‘er Lit – 26.06.18

Summer is certainly back with us and I just hope that it continues through to bike week in August. Of all the obstacles I face as Clerk of the Course at the MCE Ulster Grand Prix, the weather is my biggest challenge. Dry roads and perfect conditions equals mega racing.

Next weekend sees the Enniskillen Road Races take place for the first time. The club has made a big effort to see it happen and put a lot of time into it. I hope it now becomes a regular fixture on the racing calendar. I would like to wish all officials and competitors a safe and successful weekend of racing.

Entries close this Friday and, funnily what usually happens around this time is that I receive several texts or calls asking “did you get my entry ok”?….knowing full well they haven’t sent one in! Luckily our race secretary Linda Coulter has the patience of a saint! Over the coming weeks I will be keeping you up to date with the line up and the new look race format.

The MCE Ulster Grand Prix’s official launch takes place on Monday 2nd July and our very popular meet the riders evening takes place at The Island Hall, Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn. It all kicks off mid afternoon with an event for our sponsors, whom without their support such an epic event just wouldn’t happen. Among the line up are Peter Hickman, Dean Harrison, Conor Cummins, Lee Johnston, Dominic Herbertson, Adam McClean, Joey Thompson, Davey Todd and Paul Jordan. The evening event is set not to disappoint and will involve plenty of banter and craic, not to mention telling us all how a TT can be won and lost. This free event is a rare opportunity to meet the riders up close and personal and to attend all you need to do is apply for tickets via our facebook page or the website.
