BEST NEWCOMER TO BE AWARDED TROPHY IN MEMORY OF VINCENT FUSCO

The Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club is delighted to announce the introduction of the ‘Vincent P. Fusco Memorial Trophy’ that will be presented to the ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2013 Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix.

Noel Johnston, Clerk of the Course said: “I am honoured to introduce this award for ‘Best Newcomer’, in memory of the late Vincent Fusco who was a dedicated supporter of the Ulster Grand Prix. This award will seek to recognise the fastest new talent on the circuit. With so many fresh faces signed up to race in August, the competition is set to be fierce.

“This trophy signifies the lasting legacy that Vincent has left on the club and offers a remarkable source of inspiration for new riders who are only starting out in their career. We hope this award will help to develop their passion and hunger for motorsport”.

From an early age, Vincent was a true motorcycle enthusiast and was involved with the Ulster Grand Prix throughout his entire lifetime. He spent each summer at a cottage in Glenavy and the Ulster Grand Prix was his local road race. Vincent and his uncle Sean Fusco were dedicated first aiders with the Knights of Malta on the course each year, providing vital care and assistance.

Given that Vincent led a life in which motorcycles and racing played such a major part, his family, together with David W Ramsey and the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club, thought it only fitting and appropriate that his life should be remembered by the presentation of this silver trophy at the Ulster Grand Prix bearing his name.

Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week will run from 12th-17th August 2013 and entry wristbands are available to purchase online until 21st July. Please click here for more details.
