Dromara Destroyers lend support to Ulster Grand Prix House fundraising campaign

The legendary Dromara Destroyers will host a fundraising event to support the rebuilding of Ulster Grand Prix House in memory of David Wood who was a great supporter of Motor Cycle Road Racing in Northern Ireland and further afield.

A motorcycle show has been organised to take place in Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn from 15th – 16th November (Friday 17.00 – 20.00 & Saturday 10.00 – 17.00).

Promoters of the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix, the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club (DDMC) are working with The David Wood Foundation, Lisburn City Council and the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club to reconstruct the historic building at Dundrod.

President of the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club, James Courtney said: “The Dromara Destroyers were a formidable force in Ulster’s road racing history and it is an honour to take part in their exhibition this weekend”.

“We would urge all road racing fans to show their support by coming along to the event this weekend where bikes and memorabilia from the golden age of road racing will be on display.

“We have raised a considerable amount of money for the project so far, but we hope the ‘buy a block’ campaign will help to push our fundraising efforts across the line. We plan to have the new building ready in time for 2014 Bike Week, which will take place from 11th – 16th August.

“By participating in our ‘buy a block’ campaign, fans can become part of racing’s future as everyone who donates will be personally named on a plaque once the house is finished.”

The David Wood Ulster Grand Prix House will become home to the race office, and will be used to host club meetings and wider community events throughout the year.
