As title sponsors of the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix, the tyre brand of German origins is excited to showcase its new range of RACETEC™ RR tyres which were developed during the 2014 Road Racing season. Metzeler also have a strong line up of supported riders looking to battle at the front of this prestigious event.
Alongside its stablemate, the universally acclaimed road focused SPORTEC™ M7RR, both tyres are designated ‘RR’ to show their Road Racing development and heritage. Whilst the new RACETEC™ RR will be battling for the podium, many riding fans will arrive shod with the latest SPORTEC™ tyres, which give high grip levels in even the most difficult conditions and surfaces.
The new tyre has been developed to offer ultra high grip and stability especially at high speed, perfect for the World’s Fastest Road Race. Giving longer durability than comparable ‘short circuit’ tyres, it gives consistent wear for the life of the tyre.
Another important factor in its construction is the way the central section effectively warms up the sides of the tyre, keeping ‘heat’ even when in a long, upright position ready for the next corner; a property important both at the Ulster Grand Prix and of course for road riders.
Utilising the new range of Metzeler tyres will be Ulster Grand Prix favourites Guy Martin, William Dunlop and Gary Johnson. The three riders have additional interest this year as Guy and William’s Tyco TAS team move to the BMW marque whilst Gary will be riding for the GBmoto Kawasaki outfit.
