With entries now closed for the 2017 MCE Ulster Grand Prix, I’m pleased to say we have a bumper entry, with 32 newcomers looking forward to the opportunity to race the famous Dundrod circuit.
These newcomers are coming from all over the UK, IOM, ROI, Austria, Taiwan, and four from Germany, the numbers are very encouraging indeed.
Picking the winner of the Best Newcomer Award at this stage isnt going to be easy at all, but contenders must be 18 year old Joey Thompson riding for Dundrod favourite Ian Lougher Racing, Josh Daley with 2 TTs under his belt and currently riding in the 600 class at the MCE BSB, Craig Neve, the Hodson brothers Jamie and Rod, the list goes on and on.
Dan Kneen and Southern100 winner Dean Harrison are coming to Dundrod in great form and look like the ones that will be chasing the favourites for the podium steps, including Senior TT winner Michael Dunlop, Peter Hickman, Bruce on the RCV, and not forgetting William on the Temple Golf Club R1.
Although we will miss Hutchy, we wish him well on his road to recovery and hopefully he will make it over to watch.
As well as the action on the track we have an excellent line up of entertainment off the track. On the Wednesday evening Carl Frampton and his good buddy Lee Johnston are being interviewed by Mark Sidebottom which should be a great evening’s craic. Tickets are £20 each in aid of Marie Curie, a charity Lee is well associated with, please book in advance via office@jdmmanagement.co.uk
Work has started at Dundrod to transform the place into a race circuit, anyone with a bit of spare time on their hands will be made most welcome. Please contact Ken on 028 9264 8055.
