The countdown has started for the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix 2013, and the 60th Anniversary of the Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod.

If the tarmac around Dundrod could talk there would be some wonderful stories to tell, fortunately we have some wonderful scribes and motorcycle fanatics amongst us. One such person, Alastair McCook has written an insightful article for our race programme, spanning the 60 years at Dundrod.

We have a new title sponsor in Metzeler, an International Company that will take the Ulster Grand Prix to a whole new level over the next three years. At this point, I would like to thank Darren and Mark McKinstry from McKinstry Skip Hire, who backed the UGP after our total washout in 2008, when the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club were at an all time low. We at the club are indebted to them for their wonderful support.

After the washout at the North West, a serious bit of great racing was required and boy did the TT deliver the goods!

After a shambolic week of practice, good weather was needed for race week, everybody was thinking North West part 2, but luckily the good weather arrived just in time.

Michael showed his intention to be the next generation of the Dunlop family to dominate over the mountain course.

The great weather produced some fantastic racing right down the field, and we have our fingers crossed for some of the same in August.

It was a great coup to get a deal sorted with Neil Tuxworth to secure Michael’s Legends bike for Dundrod. For those fans that were not fortunate enough to get to the Isle of Man, they will be able to see him on 17th August.

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing our entry list and I guarantee you that we will have a first class line up of the best road racers on the grid.
