Keep ‘er Lit – 08.07.14
I must say our launch last week went very well and the “meet the riders” event was a great success.
Judging by the feedback, the race fans certainly enjoyed the banter between all the riders, and I think it is something that we can build on for next year.
As there are only 7 days to go until entries close, it is pretty manic at the moment getting everybody signed up to compete at the 2014 Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix.
One rider who I was particularly impressed with at the TT is Phillip Crowe, who despite being nearly 20 stone put in a lap close to 123mph. I thought it was a remarkable as a newcomer, so watch this space!
Another star of the future signed up this week is James Cowton and I am sure the Dundrod circuit will suit him.
Between the launch and the “meet the riders” evening at the Ramada Plaza Hotel I took Peter Hickman for a few laps of the circuit as he had only seen it before on DVD.
When we left he had a big grin on his face, so I think to say he is looking forward to Bike Week is a bit of an understatement!
Job satisfaction is what drives me in my role and hearing the riders talk about their love of racing the Dundrod circuit definitely makes it all worthwhile.
I always say, when the sun shines on Dundrod there is no better place to race or spectate.
With racing though comes ups and downs, and for Jamie Hamilton he saw the downside at the Skerries last weekend. After his winning streak at the Bush road races he had a nasty fall and we wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him at Dundrod.
