MCE UGP to attempt to create world record for most different makes of motorcycle in one place

THE organisers of the MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix have announced they are attempting to create a Guinness World Record for most different makes of motorcycle in one place.

If you’d like to take part, just email geoff@ulstergrandprix.net along with the name of your motorbike manufacturer, and the first person to register each different make of bike will be invited to take part.

The event will take place at 11.00 on Saturday 6th August at Market Square in Lisburn, just in front of the Linen Museum. The public is invited to come along to the event, which will be hosted by the Q Radio street team.

Noel Johnston, Clerk of the Course at the MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix said: “From Aermacchi to Yamaha riders, we’d like as many people as possible to register to take part in this world record breaking attempt.

“We know that there are people planning to attend Bike Week from all over the world, and that many of the fans will ride their bikes over, so this is a great opportunity for people to get involved with the World’s Fastest Road Race. Thanks to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for allowing us to hold the attempt in Market Square, it will hopefully provide a great platform for us to engage with the public and get them excited about what Bike Week has in store.”

Cllr. Uel Mackin, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Development Committee said: “The Council is delighted to once again welcome and show its support for the Ulster Grand Prix which contributes significantly to the economy and profile of the area with visitors travelling from far and wide to enjoy Bike Week.

“To help mark the beginning of MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week 2016, we are encouraging riders to register in advance and attempt to break the current world record in Lisburn City Centre. This event will also assist in the promotion of this year’s event and kick off proceedings.

“On behalf of the Council I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the riders, teams and visitors involved in this international sporting event. I would also like to thank all of the sponsors associated with the Grand Prix and welcome MCE insurance as title sponsor.

“We wish everyone at the race an enjoyable time and hope the riders and their teams have a successful and safe Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week,” he added.

The MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week including the Plant Lubrication (NI) Dundrod 150 road races take place between 8th – 13th August in Dundrod, Co. Antrim.
